Callen Aster (he/they) coordinates in-person retail events, prepares and ships seed orders and Community Seed Grants, and may very well have just replied to your email! He joined NS/S as a volunteer in the gardens and seed lab in 2021. His other roles have included volunteer coordination and outreach. He loves to talk to people about plants!
If you’ve ever heard music coming from the seed bank… it’s probably Callen singing to the seeds. He is a proud member of Tucson’s LGBTQIA community choir Desert Voices. His passions include gardening, foraging, birdwatching, drawing, and building community. Callen has volunteered for food sovereignty organizations, books-to-prisoners projects, and restoration efforts around the country. Find him collecting wildflower seeds around the farm, gathering desert willow flowers for tea, or come say hi in the cool season at our Rillito Heirloom Farmers Market booth!
